With Eldr, Old People Have More Than Reader’s Digest to Waste Away With

Often we read magazines so you don’t have to. But what happens when someone else reads magazines so we don’t have to? Awesomeness.

Which is why we’re in love with Mediapost’s Magazine Rack blog, where Larry Dobrow and friends take their pick at the newsstand’s offerings for a witty and concise (guess which is more important to us?) review. Up this round is Eldr, a magazine that tries to convince old people that life really is better when you can say you’re an octogenarian. One way they communicate this is by dropping the “e” in their title, which is what the kids are doing these days, we’re told.

Relays Mag Rack:

THIS MAG, WHICH JUST published its premiere issue, has a motto: celebrate aging. We might start with celebrating something more basic: spelling. The editor’s column tells readers to go to the window and yell: “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this any more!” If they have time to scare the neighbors, he can find the time to add an “e.”

At the very least, Eldr is holding on to Isaiah Washington’s motto, and that’s gotta count for something. And speaking of counting, it’s time to go check your blood pressure, old man.
